This week Penzances is celebrating the Golowan Festival with one of the highlights being Mazey Day.
Mazey Day is part of the Golowan Festival that takes place here in Penzance from the 19th to the 28th June.
Parades take place throughout the day in which local schools and organisations display their magnificent giant images, banners and costumes.
All around the town of Penzance there is theatre, art, music and dance being performed by local players.
This is the time of year that the people of Penzance put on an amazing show for the people of Penzance and visitors alike.
From early in the morning, the drum sound heralds the arival of the procession as it winds its way through all the small local streets in Penzance, heralding the start of Mazey Day.
Later on in the morning the mock mayor and the queen of Tarts process through the streets heralded by the town crier before taking theire rightfull place alongside the mayor of Penzance to officially start the Mazey day festivities.
