Sunday in Falmouth

Its a warm Sunday in June and Chris and i are headed to Falmouth for a change of scenery.

Falmouth is a hour away from Penzance by train, changing on to the Maritime single track branch line at Truro for Falmouth and Falmouth Docks.

You arrive at Falmouth Town station via the picturesque single track "Maritime" branch line.

Falmouth nestles at the mouth of the Fal estuary and has been a deep water safe haven since Tudor times

Since Tudor times this safe harbour has been protected from attack from enemies of the state by the twin casles at St Mawes and Pendennise. Both these impresive fortifications at the mouth of the "Carrick Roads" are now popular destinations for many visitors to the area.

Chris,s highlight to the visit to Falmouth is not any of the idylic views or the fact that we visited during the Sea Shanty event (details in next blog post). No it was infact the discovery of a KFC in the centre of Falmouth that made Chris,s day.
